After the numerous emails from Washington, DC friends referring me to try the new personalized car service Über (@uber_dc) I caved. Armed with a $10 off coupon I set up an account (that took less than 5 minutes) and 12 mins later a very nice driver, named Robert, was at my door in a lovely Sedan. My favorite feature was being able to track how far away the driver was as he came to pick me up (see pic) plus text message alerts when he arrived at my door. The downside…. It cost a bit more than a taxi but it was worth it…..until ‘rush hour’ that is. Tried to take an über home and got an alert fares tripled, so I decided to pass.
